Privacy notice
Last updated 1 July 2026. Plain English, because a privacy notice nobody can read protects nobody.
What we collect
Your name and contact details, the manuscript and materials you send us, order and payment records, correspondence with our team, and basic analytics about how this site is used.
Why we collect it
To quote for and deliver the services you order, to meet our legal and accounting obligations, and — only where you have opted in — to send you The Margin Note newsletter.
Your manuscript
Manuscripts are held on encrypted storage, shared only with the editors, designers and typesetters working on your title, and deleted from active systems twelve months after publication unless you ask us to retain them. They are never used to train machine-learning systems and never shared with third parties for marketing.
Payments
Card details are processed by our payment provider and never stored on our systems. We retain invoices and receipts for six years as UK tax law requires.
Cookies
This site uses functional cookies to remember your theme preference and basket contents, and privacy-respecting analytics with no cross-site tracking. No advertising cookies are set.
Sharing
We share data only with the subcontractors and print, distribution and retail partners needed to deliver your order, and with authorities where the law requires it.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you may request a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to processing, or withdraw newsletter consent at any time. Write to privacy@quillandmark.co.uk and we will respond within one month.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
